Hi all!
I have a question about the program total recorder. I got the program last March. I'm not sure what virsion it is, I tried to find it however I couldn't so if anyone knows how to find it in case it would be needed to answer this question just please tell me how.
Anyways, onto the question.
For those of you who don't know, total recorder is a program that you can record audio from places like youtube for example and can convert it in to an mp3 file. However, I've noticed that when I hit the record button, it is also picking up the voice of jaws in the background. Someone I once knew also had total recorder and there computer didn't do this. So, how can I record music with out the sound of Jaw's voice in the background?
Thank you for any help, I greatly appreciate it!

In jaws you can go to the utilities menu and down arrow to "sound card" (I think it is called). Right arrow on this, and choose a sound card that is not checked.

Beware, if you change to the wrong one, you will lose sound in jaws, and will have to reset it.

Good luck.
Bob

Hey Bob,
I will try this suggestion. I thought that maybe it had to do with the total recorder program however I will try your suggestion.
If anyone else has anything, feel free to post or pm me! Thanks!

if you go to sounds and parameters, you can navigate to the advanced button, and one of the checkboxes is record only this software application. Check this, and then you should be presented of a list of options of things that may be sound outputs on that sound card. if the one you want isn't listed, you'll need to know the process's name. For example, winamp.exe for winamp. iexplorer.exe for Internet Explorer, etc. Then, save your changes and restart the program. You should now only be recording the application you want.

Hey KC,
Thanks for the info! should I do this in the total recorder program or the jaws program?
Bob, I tried going to the sound card feature and checking the other sound card box however I tested it and it still recorded jaws in the background. Thanks for the suggestion though I really appreciate it!

if you're using a headset or headphones you could be getting bleed through from jaws, like some of my contacts can hear jaws when i'm on skype with them. my advice is to not use your screen reader while recording if at all possible
